Company History
TONEO specializes in developing perceptual color correction plugins for video editing professionals. To simplify and enhance the color correction process, TONEO offers tools that deliver natural, professional results in minutes. Our plugin is currently compatible with Adobe Premiere for Mac, and we are actively working on versions for Windows, Final Cut Pro, and DaVinci Resolve.
The company behind TONEO is LUCID Technologies SL, founded in January 2021 as a spin-off from the prestigious Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) in Barcelona. The company emerged from over a decade of research led by Dr. Marcelo Bertalmio in the field of Human Vision Models, specifically focusing on “Image Processing for Enhanced Cinematography” (IP4EC). This research, supported by three ERC grants, validated innovative technologies in Tone Mapping and Gamut Mapping.
Our mission at LUCID is to democratize the tools for color processing, making advanced color management technology accessible to all creators, not just high-end professionals with costly equipment. We aim to empower creators with technology that has traditionally been exclusive to large productions, enabling them to achieve professional-level results without the complexity and expense.LUCID was born out of a desire to solve the significant challenges in color management within the audiovisual industry.
Recognizing the critical role of color in the perception and impact of visual content, we set out to simplify and automate the color grading process, allowing creators to focus more on their artistic vision. Our ultimate goal is to establish our technology as a standard in the industry, addressing one of the most complex and crucial aspects of audiovisual production: color.
Additionally, we hold an AI patent for a groundbreaking neural network that delivers more accurate visual results while using half the resources, offering robust protection against adverse attacks.
